The Center for Native Education's role as an intermediary in the early college high schools national initiative is to distribute grant monies and oversee early college site development and progress.

As a result, the CNE provides ample technical assistance to its sites throughout all stages of development and employs the knowledge of our site coaches and other national experts.

Our technical assistance support includes, but is not limited to:

  • Provide technical assistance and peer learning to grantees through in-person quarterly gatherings and conferences for the four years of the grant award.
  • Meet once quarterly or more on-site to assist with and assess program development.
  • Provide technical assistance with Native community engagement and resultant participation in early college high school design and implementation.
  • Address programmatic issues including organizational planning and timeline implementation, budget development, student and staff selection, student services and support, curriculum development, performance-based learning assessment, and data-based decision-making.
  • Assist grantees in constructing formal agreements between high schools and college partners and suggest ways to address instructional costs and early college high school core components.
  • Assist grantees with policy issues that may arise involving dual-enrollment, early college high school faculty credentialing, or other concerns.
  • Assist grantees with processes for Native American curricula development.
  • Engage grantees in a network for information sharing and joint problem-solving through events, conference calls, and identification of early college high school "experts" to contact.
  • Offer customized workshops, meeting attendance, or other on-site assistance as requested by grantees.
  • Work with grantees to develop financial sustainability plans.
  • Network the early college high school model broadly in an effort to secure media visibility, policy support, and financial resources from private and governmental agencies.
  • Clarify funders' research and evaluation requests and prepare grantees for site visits.
  • Respond to grantees' requests for assistance on an as needed basis.
